Thank you so much - merci beaucoup. My father had a dark green 404 from 1965 to 1975 in Lyon, France (like the one I see with a certain emotion in your récit d'Aventure). All 403, 404, 504 probably symbolized solid tradition, familiy, paternity in France. At the precise same time was... 'Skippy le Kangourou' that we wouldn't miss, it was our window on a visibly advanced and thriving country, with helicopters just part of every day's life.. Keep the good work, and I'll be watching for more close-ups of the dark green 404 ! I'll show the Aventure to my father, 84 now!

Hello I was in a family group that was visiting Windjana Gorge on the day that your group arrived (day 22 of your recent tour). Your diary entry for that day mentions the Willy Willy (whirlwind) that we all witnessed. My son took a video clip of it with his Panasonic Lumix camera. I have attemptied to attach it (it's quite a big file: 90Mb) but failed to achieve completion of the upload to your site. I shall ask my son if he's able to put it in a public place on the web. If you have suggestions yourselves of ways I could get this clip to you, please let me know. The still photograph I am attaching instead is one we took for the benefit of our Peugeot enthusiast friend Peter. Best wishes Harry Lewis

Arrived home Wednesday evening after spending a few days in Adelaide and catching up with Les and Lenie Jennings and Phil and Kaye Thomas in Dunkeld. The trip gave us a wonderful view of Oz and the outback. I'm not sure if I would take the dirt tracks to see places again but at least I know now what I would be missing! There was the great bush camp at Tobermorey Station after an horrific day with a puncture, blowout and loss of our exhaust travelling the Donohue Highway. Then there was mighty Wolfe Creek Crater but oh, what a bone rattler road getting in to see it, worse than the Tanami Track itself. Along the Gibb River Road was the beautiful Emma Gorge and the little gem of our journey, Ellenbrae Station camp with the "donkey" to heat the shower water. WA gave us brilliant gorges to explore and clear, cool water pools to swim. Hank and Jo did a great job in organizing all these and many more fabulous places to visit and stay. We had the best support from the very patient "tail end Charlies", Brockmans and Jolleys in their 4WDs. And we know we're in good hands when we travel with a whole bunch of Pug nuts!!

Leon and Kerrie (Peugeot 505 GTDT - Car 16)
We said our goodbyes after the end of trip dinner at Port Augusta and headed for home at 4:30am the next morning with John & Jan. We travelled at a reduced speed until first light as we didn't want to end the trip with a kangaroo mascot. We made it to Nyngan by 4:30pm, booked a motel and had dinner at the RSL club opposite, we even won $50 on the pokies! We left Nyngan at 6:00am and arrived home around lunchtime to find the kids had done a magnificent job looking after the house and keeping it tidy whilst we were gone. We have nothing but praise for Hank & Jo and the other participants on the trip. The trip itself was absolutely fantastic. We experienced sights we've never seen before, and we thoroughly enjoyed the companionship of all our fellow travellers. The planning for this trip by Hank & Jo was second to none. Just when we thought the higlights of the trip we over and we would just be driving home, more highlights such as whale spotting on the Nullabor, Fowlers Bay & Point Sinclair and Sturt Desert Peas in the wild amazed us once more, just to name a few. If you've read the trip reports and the guest book entries and are still coming up with excuses why you can't join in on one of the future trips, then think again. You will find these trips well planned and well supported. The whole group works as a well oiled machine to fix any problem no matter how major, in order to keep the trip flowing. There were $100 cars on our trip that are on their second trip around Australia without any major problems. There are simply no excuses for you not to go, just prepare your car well prior to the trip and you will have an absolute ball! Thanks again Hank & Jo, we can't commend you enough for experiences you shared with us. We will definitely be on another trip in the future. Leon & Kerrie.

Caught the boat on Tuesday night and home Wednesday lunch. When the boys told us everything was exactly as we left it, we now realised they were talking about the broom, washing machine and vacuum cleaner. We had a lovely few days wandering down through South Australia and we can see another trip there for us. Monday night was a great night with Mike and Leslie....thanks again and we both decided then that we were had it.....as I am sure you all were. Hank, you did a great job letting us as a group meander along and have a great trip but when the time came to make a decision....well done. We hope to see you all again somehow one day.

Brian & Merrilyn [grandad's 504, car 11]
Hi all. We arrived safe & well in Sunbury on Sunday afternoon pleased to see our daughter, Renee, her partner, Sean and grandson, Khye. However we are suffering badly this morning and just want to keep on driving somewhere. On Saturday, Merrilyn navigated us to some wonderful new dirt back tracks and roads between Port Augusta and Bordertown. Thanks to Hanny, Barry & Ruth and Paul for their good wishes on the Guestbook. The last few weeks have been a genuine Hank adventure with all the elements of the pioneering days, including the older Pugs, unknown roads, tracks, destinations and challenges, breakdowns, punctured tyres, bush mechanics and repairs and a group of fellow travellers willing to jump in to help anyone in need and then sit down at the end of the day with a drink and have a good laugh. Some of our romantic expectations of places like Rabbit Flat Roadhouse were shattered. We actually travelled into the unknown and pushed ourselves beyond our comfort zones. Congratulations to all involved. On the 2007 L'Aventure, Glen & Carol Hall and ourselves stood on the Halls Creek end of the Tanami Track in the sunset light and wondered how great it would be to travel that track and how we might be able to manage it. It was not long after that Hank provided that opportunity with his plans for L'Aventure 2009. Thanks Hank and well done. We enjoyed every moment. A few days ago, at Kingoonya, we stood looking west down the track beside the Transcontinental Railway and wondered again.

Just a note to let you know that we did get 'Mollie' (our 403 wagon) home in one piece and we are so sorry that Tina's migraine got in the way of us saying goodbye properly to you all. After leaving Mount Magnet we drove through beautiful wildflower country and stayed at Moora. We hadn't planned to drive so far, but unfortunately there was no accommodation available in previous towns because of visitors to the area for the wildflowers. We arrived home to cool, wet weather in Dunsborough last Saturday after spending a night with friends in Perth. Today I've finally finished all of the washing, although a few traces of red dirt remain as a little reminder!! We would like to sincerely thank everyone for their advice and also thank those wonderful people who helped with the big end replacements on 'Mollie' (especially John Brumby and Gordon Hort) in Broome and then again at Meekatharra. She will have a new motor soon, ready for the next trip. We're thinking of you today as you all finish L'Aventure 2009 and wishing we could be there too. It was such a fantastic event to part of - renewing acquaintances, meeting new people and lots of L'Aventures. Thank you all so very much for the good times and friendship shown to us both. Hopefully we will meet up again somewhere down the track - not the Tanami though!! Best wishes and safe travels. Barry & Tina

Meeka. A sleepy gold mining town? Did the journal writer drive through with their eyes shut - there are massive open cut mines either side of the Great Northern Highway (and more toward the coast)....

Message to Graham McVean. Car 17 The police have been here asking about your whereabouts. It seems they are following up on a report of a stolen white Peugeot station wagon and the old dear Ginette Carter who has treasured that motor vehicle since new is distraut with worry. I ignored the fact that I knew you but might I suggest that you just keep driving (and not in Queensland) as the police have a stolen car watch out for you.
